Latin American colonial art history

My research addresses the production and reception of printed images in viceregal Mexico City. My current project is a monographic study of the founder of the Royal Academy of San Carlos, Jeronimo Antonio Gil, and his exploitation of print culture to construct the hombre de buen gusto in late colonial New Spain.
