2008-2010

North Central Texas Aging & Disabiliity Resource Center Evaluation.  Dr. Swan is an Investigator with the PI (Keith Turner) and other colleagues at UNT, evaluating this four-county ADRC.

2004-now 

Physical Activity, the Aged, and Aging Cohorts.  Dr. Swan works with colleagues at UNT and at California State University Long Beach on analysis of NHIS data on physical activity among the aged and in aging cohorts.

2006-now 

Nursing Homes in the U.S. Continued unpaid work with colleagues at University of California San Francisco on data analysis on NF staffing and other issues.


Past Research Projects
 

2007-08   

Survey of State Medicaid Reimbursement Methods and Rates FY 2007.  Funded by HUD via the University of California San Francisco ($28,717).  Dr. Swan is PI of subcontract project collecting state-level data on Medicaid nursing facility reimbursement methods in FY 2007.  This continues a long-term research collaboration with colleagues at the University of California San Francisco, beginning in 1980.

2007          

Survey of State Medicaid Reimbursement Methods and Rates FY 2004-2006.  Funded by AARP.  Dr. Swan was PI on this project collecting state-level data on Medicaid nursing facility reimbursement methods in the 2004-2006 period.

2005-06  

Medicaid nursing facility reimbursement & state fiscal meltdown.  UNT Faculty Research Grant.  Dr. Swan collected data on Medicaid nursing facility reimbursement systems, updating existing 1979-2002 data base through 2003.

2003-05

Staffing in California Nursing Homes.  Consulting contract with University of California San Francisco.  Dr. Swan worked with colleagues at UCSF on data analysis on NF staffing.

1998-04

Harry and Louise and Health Care Reform.   Dr. Swan works with colleagues at Stony Brook University on analysis of the effects of the “Harry and Louise” campaign on public opinion about health care reform.

1997-04 

Functional Dependence of Elderly Hispanics.  Dr. Swan works with colleagues at California State University Long Beach on analysis of functional dependency, levels of need, and service use of three Hispanic groups.

2002-03 

Medicaid Nursing Facility Reimbursement in 2000-2002.  Funded by University of  Maryland Baltimore County.  Dr. Swan contracted through WSU.  Collected data on Medicaid nursing facility reimbursement systems.

2002         

California State Reimbursement Reform Project. Funded by Service Employees International Union, Sacramento, California.  Dr. Swan contracted through WSU.  Collected data on Medicaid nursing facility reimbursement systems, recommendations for proposed new system.

2000-02 

Study of the Impact of the Boren Amendment Repeal on Nursing Facility Services for Medicaid Eligibles (subcontract).

1999-2002 

A Sexual Counseling Intervention After MI.  Funded by the National Institute for Nursing Research to P.I. Dr. Elaine Steinke (WSU).  Dr. Swan is statistical analyst:  research design,  data analysis, and participation in interpretation of results
