Rudy Ray Seward

Rudy Ray Seward, Vice President of the International Sociological Association’s Committee on Family Research, has taught, researched the family, and advised students at the University of North Texas since 1973. Dr. Seward is a professor, director of graduate studies, and associate chair in the Department of Sociology. He completed his graduate training at Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, earning his Ph.D. in 1974 and undergraduate training at Truman State University, Kirksville, Missouri. He has authored a book, book chapters, and journal articles dealing with family issues, including demographic history, fathers, and work/life balance. Currently he is researching changes and cross-cultural differences in parent-child relations within their social context. Dr. Seward has two sons and one greatgrandson.
