Latin American colonial art history

Returning to the research and teaching faculty in Fall 2010 after a four-year term as department chair, I embarked on two book projects. The first is a monograph on the founder of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Carlos, Jeronimo Antonio Gil, and his exploitation of print culture to construct the hombre de buen gusto in late colonial New Spain. The second culminates a decade of research and examines printmaking in eighteenth-century New Spain.
